Thursday’s quintet featured Mike Rosenstark on guitar, Kevin Brown on bass, Ken Lampl on keys and orchestra, Josh Kutchai on keys and harmonic orchestration, and Dan Rosenstark on drums. The jam had some intense and lovely moments, but the general trend was towards beautiful, flowing textures and subtlety. Another, opposite trend was towards technical problems and loud, sudden noises that never repeat. In free improvisation, many different vectors cross. Some of those are beautiful, brilliant and stunning.
